Composer Options and Settings

These options are available for email notifications created in the Message and Automation composers.

 Note

Message size may not exceed 250k, so be mindful of using large images. We highly recommend keeping your emails under 100k.

  • Email can be combined with any other channel.1

ContentMessage and Automation
  • For commercial messages, both HTML and plain text content must include an Unsubscribe link. The Content step is considered incomplete until a link is provided or the message is designated as transactional in the Settings pane.
  • Merge fields can be included in HTML and plain text content if you chose Upload Users in the Audience step.

Settings:

  • Subject: Subject line and preview text. Preview text is a snippet of the email body that is displayed below the sender name and subject line in a user's inbox.2
  • From Name: Sender name and email address.
  • From Email: The sender email address. Choose a domain from the dropdown menu to complete the address.
  • Reply To Email: The email address that will populate the To field if the message is replied to. Choose a domain from the dropdown menu to complete the address. Leave field blank if replies should go to the address already entered in the From Email address field.
  • Transactional: If the message is triggered by a user's action such as a password reset request, opt-in, shopping receipt, etc., you can flag it as transactional, and optionally include an Unsubscribe link. Messages are commercial by default.
  • Bypass Status: Send regardless of user's opt-in status. This option appears if Transactional is enabled.

Merge Field Default Values:

  • Allow Empty: Use when you want the field to appear even if it has no value. This option appears for HTML messages that include merge fields.

  • Available options: Expiration, Campaign Categories
DeliveryAutomation
  • Available options: Campaign Categories, Expiration, Start and End Dates

Email Template Options and Settings

These options are available when creating email templates.

  • Text: Title, Body
  • Media: Image, Body, Button
  • Action: Title, Body, Button

  • All layouts have an optional footer.
  • The title is bolded and a larger size by default to stand out from the message body. This appears above the message body; it is not the email Subject line.

Settings:

  • From: Sender name and email address.
  • Subject: Subject line and preview text. Preview text is a snippet of the email body that is displayed below the sender name and subject line in a user's inbox.1
  • Reply To: The email address that will populate the To field if the message is replied to. Leave blank if replies should go to the address already entered in the From email address field.
  • Text-Only Version: A text-only version of the message for email clients that support plain text messages only.
  • Transactional: If the message is triggered by a user's action such as a password reset request, opt-in, shopping receipt, etc., you can flag it as transactional, and optionally include an Unsubscribe link.
  • Campaign Categories: Group messages of a similar type or messaging strategy for aggregate reporting. Add up to 10 category names.
